2011 Hot Hair Trends

Keep your locks as hip as you this year!

Fashion has moved towards styling that is reminiscent of the late 80's/early 90's, and that goes for hair trends as well.  Here are some fun and interesting styles and colors we are seeing on the runways and in the tabloids...

Side Braids

Side braids are one of my favorite trends for long hair.  This style is super easy to maintain and do yourself.  It is also very romantic, sexy, and sweet.  The messier the better the look, which is perfect for the girl-on-the-go.  Just place some bobby pins to hold the shape you like, spritz on a light cover of holding spray, and you're good to go!

Pigtails

Yep.  Pigtails are now cool and acceptable again past the age of 5.  I am not a fan of the super high, peppy, annoying cheerleader-esq tails, but I do LOVE the sweet, southern belle style low pigtails.  This is a fun and trendy style, and I guarantee your man will probably crack some sexual innuendos at you (handlebars, anyone?)

Bows

Ohhhh the 80's in all of its glory...BOWS!  This childhood trend is also now deemed acceptable past the age 5.  I feel like I am watching a Tiffany video.  Actually, this style can look really cute if you play it right with a fun and flirty ensemble, I'm thinking a cute mini, maybe?  By no means do you need to go as big bowed as these runway models, but this fun trend is worth giving a shot for the sake of fashion!

High Buns

Sexy librarians unite!  The high bun has graced the runway yet again.  Not exactly my cup of tea, but I know some people that have pulled this off in a sexy way.  The up-do is back in a big way, and this look is very office appropriate and polished.  With the right suit you can definitely walk in like you mean business.  Just don't pull it up so tight that you get a headache!

Fringe/Bangs

I love, love, love my bangs.  I recently decided to cut them into my hair, and I totally do not regret that decision.  A proper fringe can enhance your eyes and shape your face. It's still best worn thick, blunt, and long (sweeping the top of the eyes preferably). And it's still best worn in one of the following ways:
  • with a messy, neo-bohemian, grungy edge (slightly side-sweeping)
  • with an aura of '60s sex-kitten nonchalance (think Francoise Hardy or Jane Birkin)
  • straight and sleek; elegant but still natural
Crazy Colors

Bright streaks of fun and unusual hair colors are back!  Remember when hair mascara used to get passed around during class?  That stuff was awful haha.  But, this funky trend is back and slightly toned down.  Instead of blatantly obviously bright tones, the looks has been toned down (slightly) to a more fazed in color pop.  A fun way to try this style is to buy a good temporary color and comb in some light streaks to make a dull day bright!

Platinum Blonde (with/without dark roots)

Platinum is another 80's trend that has come back to us this year.  If you are going to change your hair colour, if you're going to opt for a colour that shall set you apart from the crowd, consider a shock of blonde hair that draws the gaze of those nearby, consider the platinum blonde hair shade.  Platinum / white blonde in 2011 is about youthful elegance or a cooler-than-cool attitude.  I made my appointment for some platinum highlights last week!

Ravishing Reds

Part of the appeal of red hair is that its a rarity. It's said that less than 2% of people are natural redheads, so the more natural your red colour looks, the more it can be associated with something rare and exclusive.  As it is with any hair colour, not all shades of red hair are in. Forget the bright copper and crimson tones: red hair in 2011 is about richly coloured and natural looking red hair.  Rock a redhead oozing of playful, confident personality, just add the bombshell sexual confidence, and you have it!

Lovin' Time: Valentine's Day Fashion

Valentine's Day is here!

Whether it is a day to celebrate, or a day to dread, you should look HOTTTTTTT!

Valentine’s Day is the one day a year to celebrate those mushy feelings of love, have PDA's, and devour loads of chocolate. It’s the day where we make time to enjoy our significant other and celebrate our togetherness.

For some women, it’s a time to get out with their best girlfriends and celebrate their single status and show the world they can have fun (and look hot while doing it) with or without a special someone. Whatever the occasion is or who you’re celebrating with, you will want to look and feel your sexiest on Valentine’s Day...

The traditional Valentine’s Day colors have always been known as red and pink. However, there are other colors you can use for your look besides the typical red and pink, to look fabulous. Deep purple, raspberry, salmon, peach, and burgundy are great Valentine’s Day colors to wear. By keeping accessories minimal and wearing these colors boldly, you will be sure to be a spicy number wherever you are!

Wanting to stick to the traditional Valentine colors? Try using red and pink colors to spice up an outfit. Keep it simple with a black or white outfit with pink or red accessories. Example; red pumps, red lipstick and dangle earrings would be a great touch to any outfit.

Don't be afraid to go ALL OUT if that's your flavor for the evening!  Keep it classy with simple accesories to as not to step out looking like an ornament.

You can dress up or down with a Valentine's ensemble, and don't be afraid to get creative!  A great pencil skirt can be just as sexy (if not sexier) than a hot mini dress.  A great pair of heels is a must though!
Don't be afraid to stray from those Reds and Pinks.  A Valentine's outfit can be anything!  As long as you feel sexy, confident, and reasonably comfortable (hey, let's face it, beauty takes a little pain!)
A sexy open back is a personal favorite of mine for sultry style.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!
