DON'Ts: Celebrity Trends That Suck...

I think I've made my point...

There are a few trends out there right now, that I am just not too fond of, and some that are just downright laughable.  This whole 'crazy legs' thing going on, NAH-UH.  Maybe for a 5 year old girl, maybe, for her jazz dance lessons...But, for daily wear? I think not.

Celebs can get away with fashion murder if enough of them start wearing a trend.  But, why should we accept their sometimes crappy taste?  I certainly won't be running out ot my nearest American Apparel to buy truck loads of plaid, floral, native american, polka-dot, barf inspired tights.

McHammer inspired pants & split sleeves

There is absolutely nothing flattering about this trend.  Since when did men's work out pants from the 80's become cool?  Because I am pretty sure they were designed to keep their nutsacks free and airy while they got their muscle juice on.  Somehow, I don't think any of these ladies are sporting balls...we hope.

The splite sleeve thing...just plain cheap as shit.  This is the stuff you see in trashy clubs, why would you wear it on the red carpet? Seriously. For shame!
Farmer Brown called...He wants his shirts back.

Well Howdy there!!! Any of you's wanna wrastle?  Look, I'm all for the cute plaid shirts and button downs that are fresh right now, but the tying looks awful.  Button down shirts can look great, I personally own a few, and I love them.  But, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  Don't tie it up like you're one of the beverly hillbillies.  It's just tacky, and reminiscent of every slutty cowgirl  Halloween costume I've seen out there.

And, really, Ashley Green?  A tied denim shirt with a retro mini skirt? Do you honestly think your rocking it right now?  Just straight up bad taste.
Grandma's Lace Doilies

I have no problems with lace.  I think it can look sexy, classy, sweet, whatever you want it to be (depending on how it is presented).  But, the all-white-lace dresses these ladies are sporting?  I've seen curtains like these at my grandma's house, and those little stupid lace things she puts under her Precious Moments collectibles, freaking doilies.  We do not wear curtains, ladies.  You're better than that!

Paris Fashion Week 2011: Alexander McQueen

Designer Sarah Burton, for Alexander McQueen

Sarah Burton had some enormous shows to fill when she was chosen to continue the Alexander 'Lee' McQueen legacy.  The designer worked closely with McQueen for 15 years, and I don't think there could have been a better choice to continue creating this legendary fashion line.

She clearly knows and embraces all of the trademarks of McQueen's vision, all while bringing her own creativity and flavor to the signature line.  She has reinvented the house of McQueen just by being a female designer and bringing a softness to the often dark, dramatic, and sometimes discomforting themes McQueen was so fond of.  Burton's collection still played on his idea of fantasy and creating a wondrous world through fashion, but her theme lends itself towards a more mother-of-the-earth concept, a brighter outlook.

In her collection you will see life sprout from a blank canvas (the dramatic white pieces she chose to start with).  From there the evolution of monarch butterflies, striped and brilliant tigers, woven black leaves, pheasant feathers, guilded cornstalks, and the transcendent natural beauty of the earth.

Below, I have posted the photos of entire 35 piece spring 2011 women's ready-to-wear collection.  It it worth viewing as a whole piece, it is truly a moving work of art, and an utterly inspiring display of what high fashion truly is....

Fashion 101: Office Basics - Blouses!

FASHION 101 - The Blouse

Since the dawn of women in the workforce, the blouse has been a must have for any working girl's attire.
Standard white blouses hang in every woman's closet, young and old.  From the basic white tailored look like the one pictured above to the more eccentric ruffled blouses that we see today, the blouse is ever-evolving and clearly remains here to stay.
Some of the latest trends in blouse styling have been extreme ruffles like this...

Very dramatic, with an almost old-world colonial vintage feel, a ruffled blouse can create a very trendy and romantic look when paired with either basic slacks or a pencil skirt.

Short-sleeved, shaped blouses
What is so great about the blouse is that they can be so many different things.  They can be dressy, like the ruffled style, or casual like this shaped short sleeved style.  They are a year round attire, so you really cannot ever have enough!

50's/60's Style Bow Ties

One of my favorite trends in blouse stylings is the bow tie.  These are cute and modest for the workplace, and they look bangin' with a pencil skirt.  You can easily wear this style to a job interview and feel comfortable and super stylish. Love it!

Blouses Can Be Super Sexy...
A super sheer blouse, buttoned low and paired with a flattering cami, can really showcase your knockers, while remaining classy and tasteful.  When paired with a tight high-waisted skirt, you are knock-out mama!

NOT JUST WHITE ANYMORE!

There are so many different colors, and patterns, and textures out there now for blouses and I simply cannot get enough of them!  I think it is super important for every woman to go out and find several white, and several fun and color blouses to complete their work attire collection.  They can add POP, and pair well with any basic office pant or skirt.

They Are Red Carpet Worthy!

A-List Celebs like Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson have been seen sporting blouses on the red carpet
They are truly one of the most versatile items you can own.

There are so many ways you can wear them, but my favorite is to pair it with a high-waisted pencil skirt for that classic, sexy look

Accessories to match could be a pair of great standard black pumps, and some chnky jewelry!

And now you're ready to take on the world, BOO-YA!
