FALL FASHION: The Importance of Scarves

Scarves are one of the hottest trends and also one of my FAVORITE accessories!

What is so wonderful about their more popular fashion presence is that now there are sooooooooo many different styles and prints to choose from.  You can take any simple outfit to the next level, and update any outfit to fit the latest trends just by adding the right scarf.  Scarfs tend to look best with basic outfits such as a great fitted T or sweater and a pair of blue jeans.

Rhianna is a fashion icon, that there is no doubt.  Here she is sporting one of my favorite scarf styles...

Shaped as a perfect square, and in a variety of beautiful prints, this is a hot look!

DIRECTIONS:  You want to fold the scarf in half to create a triangle, place the thickest point on the triangle in front of your neck and wrap the corners around to the front (crossing in the back).  FABULOUS!

Here is everyone's favorite Hollywood bad girl: Lindsey Lohan.  She loves scarves!  This is one of the more simple ways to wear one.  It really adds a nice touch to any single-color ensemble.  There are soooooo many different variations to this type of scarf, and many different lengths to play with.  Some have fringe, some don't.  Also, some feature dual patterns, so their is a different style on either side of the scarf.

DIRECTIONS:  You want to take the scarf and place it around the back of you neck.  It looks best to leave one side *slightly* longer than the other, so that once you tie it the sides are close to even.  Then, wrap the longer side around the shorter one in a loose knot.  VOILA!

Couldn't find a celeb photo for this one, but....here is a *newer* trend in scarves - The Ruffle.  As you can see, this can also be worn in a variety of interesting ways.  This style tends to come in much more simple colors, as the ruffle detailing is reallly the focus, and not the pattern (would be too busy).  I think this looks spectacular with the leopard print top, don't you?

DIRECTIONS:  There really are no rules for this one, but a great way to wear this style is to do a loose wrapping technique.  Simply drape one side of the scarf over your shoulder and place it at the desired length for the longest end.  Then, loosely wrap it one time around your neck, letting the wrapped part fall just around the cleavage area.  Drape the remaining length of scarf over the opposite shoulder and you're done!  You may need to play with the lengths a little to get the right look, but this style is very fun and flirty!
